Md Azam is the founder of finEngine and holds the position of President and CTO. He has over 20 years’ experience in software engineering and data management. His in-depth knowledge includes financial analytics, global equities, institutional trading systems, compliance, surveillance, and order processing. He has worked with a broad array of financial industry clients, providing actionable data analysis to optimize business goals, and provide complete transparency to the order routing and execution process. Prior to founding finEngine in 2004, Azam spent 7 years at Knight Trading Group where he developed their analytics infrastructure as global head of data management. He served as a member of the Global Strategy Committee and the IT Management Committee. Some of his accomplishments at Knight included the design and management of several key projects including: complete automated compliance and surveillance system, one of the first of its kind, a best execution system, which allowed Knight to provide individualized benchmark analytics to clients, an intranet system to disseminate reporting and analysis to traders, development of the historical market data infrastructure covering hardware, software, and database technology.Azam was instrumental in designing the options and futures OMS data structure including the security master. This broad experience gave him the vision and desire to develop analytical software for a new generation of traders through the formation of finEngine. Anthony Sanfilippo (Tony) has over 40 years of experience in the financial services industry. Tony is the CEO of finEngine, Inc., a financial technology company that provides action-oriented data and analytics to broker dealers and investment managers. His extensive background managing investment banks and large-scale market making operations gives him a deep understanding of how to help clients use the finEngine platform to make better informed decisions to run their business. Tony earlier served as an Advisor to finEngine while he was a principal of Seppala Financial, a firm focused on providing investment and advisory services for early stage financial technology initiatives. Tony leveraged his experience to provide capital market consulting services to assist broker dealer and institutional clients in optimizing business processes to deliver on strategic objectives. Prior to founding Seppala, Tony held the position of President of Rodman & Renshaw, following the merger of Rodman with Hudson Holding Corporation where he served as Chief Executive Officer. Tony was recruited to Hudson from Etico Capital, a boutique merchant bank he co-founded. Prior to establishing Etico, Tony was Head of US Equity Trading for Jefferies & Co., a firm he returned to 18 years after completing a six year tenure in their Chicago office in the 1980’s. Before returning to Jefferies, Tony served as President and CEO of Knight Capital markets and Interim Chief Executive Officer of Knight Trading Group. He also managed Knight’s operations in Europe and Japan as Head of Global Equities. Tony initially joined Knight when Tradetech Securities, a Nasdaq Intermarket trading company he founded in 1993, was acquired by Knight’s Trimark division. Earlier in his career, Tony was an Executive Vice President of Mesirow Financial, responsible for their equity trading division and regional specialist operations.

Tony is a past Director of the National Organization of Investment Professionals (NOIP), has served as a Governor of the Security Traders Association (STA), and is a former President of the Security Traders Association of Chicago. He has also chaired the District 8 Business Conduct Committee (DBCC) of NASD Regulation Inc. and is a past member of the SIA Trading Committee as well as of the Boards of Nasdaq Europe and Knight Trading Group.

Tony currently serves as the Treasurer of the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation (AAMDS), the world’s leading non-profit health organization dedicated to supporting patients and families living with bone marrow failure diseases.

Tony attended University of Illinois Chicago and DePaul University, and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma.
